a charlotte street 15 year anniversary project considering the history and future of artist-driven pioneering in Kansas City and the changing nature of the city's "frontiers"

Living Archive: Artist Research Center

The Artist Research Center was established in KC in 1964 by Michael Stephens. The Frontier archivists recently found Mr. Stephens and had the pleasure of interviewing him. We learned a wealth of information about ARC’s involvement in the Kansas City art community. ARC was part of the Structuralist art movement and hosted regular art exhibits,  live performances, and community art projects for 25 years.  ARC Welder/ composer/ current Charlotte Street Studio Resident, Wayne Yockey, shared this poster with The Frontier.  More on the Artist Research Center coming soon.
